1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of FindMyLegacy (“the Service”), a web application operated from the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does

FindMyLegacy provides a searchable interface to the UK Government's Bona Vacantia list of unclaimed estates published by the Treasury Solicitor's Department. It also provides tools to help you organise your research, including a watchlist, case management, and an AI assistant.

The Service is an informational research tool only. It is not a legal service and does not constitute legal advice. We are not solicitors, probate practitioners, or heir hunters, and we do not act on your behalf in any legal or financial matter.

3. Accuracy of information

The estate data displayed on FindMyLegacy is sourced from the UK Government's Bona Vacantia list. We import this data periodically and make reasonable efforts to keep it current, but we cannot guarantee that it is complete, accurate, or up to date at any given moment.

You should always verify information directly with the Treasury Solicitor's Department or a qualified legal professional before taking any action. We accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on information displayed by the Service.

4. AI assistant

The AI assistant feature is powered by a large language model and is provided for general guidance only. It may produce incomplete or incorrect responses. Nothing produced by the AI assistant constitutes legal, financial, or professional advice, and you should not rely on it when making decisions about estate claims or legal matters.

Always consult a qualified solicitor or probate specialist if you intend to make a claim against an unclaimed estate.

5. Your account

• You must be 18 or older to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You must not share your account with others or use it for any commercial purpose without our written consent.
• You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

• Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy estate data in bulk
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that do not belong to you
• Transmit harmful, unlawful, or fraudulent content through the Service
• Use the Service in a way that interferes with or degrades its availability to other users
• Resell or commercialise access to the Service without our written consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these conditions.

7. Trial and paid access

Some features of the Service are available free of charge for a limited trial period. After your trial period ends, continued access to those features requires a paid subscription. Details of current pricing are shown on the pricing page.

We reserve the right to change pricing or the features included in any plan with reasonable notice. Free features will always remain free.

8. Intellectual property

The FindMyLegacy name, logo, design, and original content are our property. The underlying Bona Vacantia data is published by HM Treasury under the Open Government Licence. You may use information from the Service for personal research purposes but may not republish or redistribute it commercially.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindMyLegacy is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any loss or damage — including loss of opportunity, financial loss, or consequential loss — arising from your use of or reliance on the Service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
